Ventilation due to Covid-19

During this pandemic, many people are still travelling to work and wearing suitable PPE to protect themselves from catching and transferring Covid-19. We are all doing our best to help reduce the spread and ensuring working spaces are clean and well equipped is key.

Poorly ventilated work spaces can help spread Coronavirus more easily, therefore it is key to have good quality ventilation to help prevent the spread.

Natural ventilation, such as open windows, doors and vents can help circulation, however they may now be enough depending on the size of the workplace. Opening windows during the winter and colder days may not be the best solution. Heating systems can be used alongside natural ventilation to maintain a reasonable and comfortable work space.

The law requires employers to ensure the office has a good air flow supply. Good ventilation reduces the concentration of the virus in the air, therefore reducing the risks from airborne transmission. Mechanical ventilation brings fresh air into the premises, including heating and air conditioning ventilation, also known as HVAC.
